The wait is finally over for those patients awaiting the ‘Cardiology at Home in Singapore’ service, from the comfort of their own home. With the collaboration between heartland specialist cardiovascular clinic Sunrise General Medical and Heart Services and Home MedTech healthcare provider, Ninkatec Pte Ltd, they are proud to launch this joint service to provide better home and heartcare for recuperating patients.

Accounting for 20% of the deaths in Singapore in 2017, Cardiovascular disease is especially prevalent in Singapore. With Singapore’s aging population, we are also facing an increasing number of conditions like diabetes, high blood pressure and high blood cholesterol. These conditions may in turn lead to an increased risk of heart disease and stroke.
At present, local cardiology departments in the public and private sectors face the problem of coping with the rising demands for heart care related services. With this pressing increase in demands, there is also an increase in the waiting time before the patients can receive consultations or treatments. This increase in wait times before cardiology consultations could be critical and crucial in some circumstances. As a result, there is a compelling need for patients to receive more cardiovascular attention, and in turn gain the timely access to the relevant heart and healthcare measures.

With the advent of ‘Cardiology at Home in Singapore’ initiative, Sunrise General and Ninkatec hopes to address this pressing issue. With this implementation, patients (especially the elderly) can seek out prompt and relevant treatment, from the comforts of their home. Prior to enrolling for this service, all keen patients will be accessed and evaluated to see if they are applicable for being cared for in the home setting. These assessments are based on factors like heart rate, oxygen saturation and the severity of the heart disease. Once the patient is deemed suitable for the service, various monitoring systems can then be put in place to keep track of the patient’s health and monitor his or her condition on a regular basis.
